Superior Drummer Drum Factory – Sylvia’s Sounds

@ the top of her game

Starting in San Francisco’s early punk scene, Sylvia has carried her adventurous spirit and boundary-pushing production style from the Bay Area to Los Angeles and beyond. Best known for her multi-platinum work with Tool, Johnny Cash, and Prince, she still spends her days making records, chasing sounds, and creating mischief from her jewel-box recording studio in Ashland, Oregon.

Yet music is only one chapter of Sylvia’s story. She is also an accomplished painter and illustrator, bestselling author, collector of rare microphones, museum curator, educator, inventor, and entrepreneur. Together, these pursuits form the curious world of Sylvia Massy. But to her friends, she’s simply “Sylvia, the Radiant Being.”

The Man In Black

Sylvia recorded this song at Sound City with Rick Rubin producing and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers as Johnny’s backup band.
