Complete with dust from the eons, this Western Electric D173028 carbon microphone shaker kept those early radio microphones working properly. The carbon capsule was loaded into the holder on top, then a motor would vibrate the carbon granules so they would conduct the signal without interruption during the broadcasts. This particular unit is a spare from the museum shop, and it is missing parts including the original motor. Even then, this is the rarest of rare WE units, a real treasure. Enjoy!
I love vintage electronics and hope you do too. This item is surplus from the Paquette Museum, the world’s largest vintage microphone and radio collection. Take a look at other items in my eBay shop. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I will be posting many items over the next few months so keep checking back.
Price is for item as-is. I use USPS for domestic shipping.
Thanks for looking!
