While working with Prince in Los Angeles in the early 90s, Sylvia carried a journal with her. On occasion she would sketch Prince. He would sometimes peek at the drawing and nod his approval. Above is a photo of one of Prince’s picks used in the sessions. What exactly does he mean?

With horrible costumes and even worse music, Green Jello amazingly had a hit song with their heavy metal nursery rhyme “Three Little Pigs” which Sylvia recorded and mixed. They were forced to change their name to “Green Jelly” but persevered. Recently they mixed their “Murder Train” song with Sylvia at the Oddio Shop.
Enjoy art photos of Tom Petty, Joe Satriani, Pauly Perrette, Johnny Cash, Tool, Danny Elfman, System of a Down, Econoline Crush, Spade Ghetto Destruction, Marty Stuart, Rick Rubin, Deftones, Carl Perkins, June Carter Cash, all taken by Sylvia with a polaroid camera during sessions in the 90s.

Very early in her career, Sylvia worked with a young guitar player named Kirk Hammett fresh from recording “Master of Puppets” with his band Metallica. Sylvia and Kirk co-produced an indie record for Paul Rat with a San Francisco band called the Sea Hags.
Below London in an abandoned tube station at Aldwich, God Damn set up and played on the platforms and in the tiled hallways and stairwells. Recorded for One Little Indian (now “One Little Independent”).

Rock veterans Spiderbait are being honored in the Australian Hall of Fame (ARIA). Enjoy these photos from their time working on “Tonight Alright” with Sylvia at RadioStar Studios in Weed, California.

All-girl rock band exhibitionists Thunderpussy recorded at SATSOP nuclear power plant in one of their abandoned cooling towers. Sylvia brought her Sound Devices MIX-10 and a laptop rig and recorded the whole thing for their album.

In a cathedral in old Gothenburg, Sweden, the band Avatar recorded parts for the epic “Feathers and Flesh” on a century-old pipe organ (that had very good tuning!)

Full house at the Ridgefield, CT show on April 4th, lit up by fascinating studio tales. To the delight of the audience, the METalliance crew shared stories from their careers in the music industry. Frank Filipetti talked about Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Douglass talked about R. Kelly, Sylvia talked about Prince, George Massenburg talked about Linda Ronstadt, Niko Bolas talked about Neil Young and Elliot Scheiner had some whopper stories about Steely Dan (they wrote “Hey 19” about him!).
