Taking criticism is a lot easier if you’re not really paying attention to people. So it’s nice to be in a situation where you can ignore everyone around you and just do what you want. This is the situation where someone says “Man, that guy really tore into you about that mix!” and you can honestly respond: “I wasn’t really listening, what did he want?”
