This is a fantastic example of American invention. Western Electric was the first in the world to develop the condenser microphone. This Western Electric 7A is one of the very first. Commonly called the “mantle clock” microphone or the “tombstone” these mics were used in the 1930s and can sometimes be spotted in old gangster movies. The cast body of the mic is full of vacuum tubes. Power and audio is delivered through its original 5-pin big connector. Enjoy!
